Enzymes are a special type of protein that plays an important role as biological catalysts. Adding enzyme preparations to laundry detergent can significantly improve the washing effect and make clothes cleaner.
One of the main functions of enzymes is to break down organic matter such as proteins, carbohydrates and fats. During the washing process, enzymes can efficiently decompose difficult-to-remove large organic stains on clothes, such as milk stains, blood stains, oil stains, etc., into small molecules that are easily soluble in water. These small molecules are more easily carried away by the surfactant solution in the laundry detergent, thereby achieving deep cleaning of the clothes.
The enzymes commonly used in enzyme-added laundry detergent include protease, lipase, amylase and cellulase. Protease is very effective in removing human secretions from collars, cuffs and other parts of clothing, as well as protein stains such as blood and milk stains. Lipase can catalyze the hydrolysis of various animal and plant oils and human sebaceous gland secretions to remove lipid stains on clothing. Amylase can remove starch stains from foods such as noodles and chocolate. Cellulase can make the fiber structure fluffy and remove floating hair on the surface of cotton textiles, making the washed clothes softer, fluffier and more colorful.
The action of enzymes is very specific. For example, protease can only break down protein stains, and lipase only works on triglyceride stains. This specificity ensures that the enzyme will not damage clothing dyes during the washing process and will not cause clothing to fade.
Warm water helps enzymes and other ingredients in laundry detergent work more effectively. Therefore, when using enzyme-added laundry detergent, the washing water temperature should be controlled at about 40°C, and avoid using water above 60°C to dissolve the laundry detergent to prevent the enzyme preparation from losing its activity.
It should be noted that silk, wool and protein-containing fabrics should not be washed with enzyme-added laundry detergent because the enzymes will destroy the structure of these fibers.
The enzymes in laundry detergent significantly improve the washing effect by breaking down organic matter, removing stains, protecting clothing dyes, and other methods, making clothes cleaner and brighter like new.
